If you’ve been on the League of Legends Universe page, you may have stumbled upon this little note hinting us of a new Champion named, Ornn – The Mountainsmith.
As far as production goes, Riot sure doesn’t hold back their punches. Ornn comes with his own bone-chilling soundtrack and a poem! The music is very Nordic-themed and reminds me very much of Lord of The Rings. If that hasn’t hyped you up, we’ve got more information.
The Fire Below The Mountain
Ornn, the Mountainsmith will be a champion born from the best parts of the Tank meta. According to Nexus League of Legends, the developers “Honed in on what we felt worked for the Vanguard class, we saw a great opportunity to build a new one from scratch.”
And thus, Ornn was born. It may seem a little too soon for a new champion right after Kayn; however, his release date has yet to be released so it may be a while before he hits the PBE. For now, here’s all we know about him.
- He reigns from Frejlord, and we can already tell from the design of the note above but the developers mentioned: “Look out for the newest Vanguard, who’ll be heating up one of the coldest regions in Runeterra.” Now, I think we all know that Frejlord is pretty cold.
- He is a forge master of some sort. As written in the poem above “Sparks leap and fly from the star-fallen ore, forging his works divine.”
- They call him “The Mountainsmith.” So does that mean he forges mountains? Or does he just live in the mountains?
- He is the next tank champion of the vanguard class, similar to Sejuani and Leona.
What he looks like? We have no idea, but I can imagine it looking like one of the Dwarves under the mountain from Lord of the Rings. What do you think?
Ornn, The Fire Below The Mountain Champion Reveal:
Yesterday, League of Legends revealed Ornn’s skill set and we’re here to tell you all about it!
Passive: Basically, Ornn can buy items without having to return to base. He can open shop whenever he’s out of combat. Also, his teammates can purchase special upgrades. But only one upgrade can be purchased per person.
Brittle: This is a new debuff introduced to the game. Enemies afflicted with Brittle will suffer an extra portion of their maximum health when struck with immobilizing attacks such as Orianna’s Shockwave.
Q: Ornn slams the ground, sending out a fissure that deals physical damage and slows enemies in its path. After a slight delay, a magma pillar rises from the ground and disrupts movement.
W: Ornn becomes unstoppable, shields himself, and belches out flames. The flames will deal a portion of the enemy’s current health as magic damage. Enemies struck by the final gout of flame receive a new debuff called “Brittle”. Ornn’s basic attacks knock back Brittle targets
E: Ornn charges, dealing damage to enemies he passes through. If Ornn collides with terrain while charging, the impact creates a shockwave that deals damage and knocks up enemies. This ability destroys player-created terrain so it’s a great counter for abilities such as Taliyah’s Weaver’s Wall and Jarvan’s Cataclysm.
R: Ornn summons a massive fire elemental at a target location. It then travels toward him with increasing speed. Enemies run over by the elemental take magic damage and become Brittle. If Ornn casts it again, the elemental will run back the same path and again, damaging all enemies in its way.
