It’s nearing October, meaning that the PlayStation Autumn Sale is here! There are a variety of titles on sale, ranging from hack-and-slash to J-RPG to racing games. Let’s take a look at some highlights. Before we begin, take note that this sale is for the SEA region only, meaning only countries like Singapore and Malaysia reap the benefit. For NA region, you guys get the ‘Outbreak’ Sale, which is sadly less interesting. Don’t worry, you guys always get impressive flash sales year-round. The PlayStation Autumn Sale ends on October 3, 2018. Without further ado, let’s get right into it.
DmC: Devil May Cry- Definitive Edition (2015)
I don’t mean commercially when I say this Capcom published title was a PS3 hit back in 2013. Poor sales combined with vocal fan backlash discouraged Capcom for ever creating a sequel. That however, doesn’t change the fact that DmC has one of the most fluid and intricate combat mechanics in any modern era game. While Devil May Cry 4: SE is a thing, this is not a bad play through to scratch that DMC 5 itch. With the definitive edition, you’re getting all the DLCs as well as the expansion, Vergil’s Downfall and Bloody Palace. This remastered reboot also sets the game in a stunning, crisp 1080p resolution at 60fps. It also adds a much appreciated lock-on mechanic to allow for more precise, SSStylish combos. That’s an even better deal than what you’d get on Steam, which only offers you the complete edition, for a currently higher price.

Marvel VS. Capcom: Infinite (Deluxe, Standard)
Another Capcom title which was poorly received, Marvel VS. Capcom: Infinite was a very short-lived EVO title making only one mainline EVO appearance. Despite so, it has a great single-player campaign, which is much appreciated in today’s age of multiplayer madness. Blending in the lore of Marvel and Capcom, you’ll be getting the best comic interactions you’d ever hope to see. Not to mention, the antagonists of both franchises merging together to form Ultron Sigma is just hardcore. Compared to other fighting games, it’s online player base is relatively low. The campaign and offline fun with friends is well worth the buck, though. MvC:I revamps the roster by replacing the X-MEN with most of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s heroes. This cash-in move however, has ironically resulted in the poor sales of the game. If you WOULD like to see more X-MEN in your fighting games, then stick around.

Ultimate Marvel VS. Capcom 3
The definitive edition of 2011’s hit fighting game presented the player a roster of 48 playable heroes. This game occasionally makes guest appearances at EVO, and is still one of the most critically acclaimed fighting games of all times. It was the last game to feature a 3-on-3 fighting system for the franchise, as well as feature the iconic X-MEN. This PS4 re-release still provides the 2011 game with a lively multiplayer online player base. Aside from the expanded roster, this edition introduces new stages, modes, and other enhancements to improve the game’s balance and online functionality. At only five gigabytes, why not?

Mass Effect: Andromeda
We have a superior trilogy. Yes, this game was riddled with microtransactions for multiplayer benefits. Additionally, it came out as a graphically disappointing game, soon to be flooded with graphic texture patches. Yes, it got rid of almost all the amazing things that made the first trilogy so great. And yet it’s definitely worth the adventure at its discounted price. The game takes place in between Mass Effects 2 and 3, giving players a lore that is still relevant to the ‘better’ Mass Effect games. Though it has a lighter tone to it’s story and atmosphere, it also introduced an open-world concept that encouraged players to explore the beautifully rendered environments and settings. Additionally, the combat feels much more enigmatic as compared to previous games. All in all, ME: Andromeda was never really, how to say, a bad game; it just had too big of a shoe to fill.

This Action JRPG puts you in the shoes of Yunica Tovah, Hugo Fact, and “The Claw”. It serves as the prequel to the Ys game, taking place 700 years prior to the first mainline entry (there are eight mainline entries as of today). This 2006 hit is one of the highest rated games on Steam, earning a score of 10/10. Though it came out in 2006 in Japan, the exponential rising of popularity for the franchise encouraged Nihon Falcom to create a localized version in 2012. Even then, it generated a lot of positive reception that five years later it was ported to PS4 and PS Vita. What’s even more crazy is that Xbox received a port as well the following year. A jrpg?? On Xbox?? That’s how you know a game is special.

Mega Man Legacy Collections 1 and 2
Now, this is only one of the best classic game franchises of all time. Megaman Legacy Collection bundles up Mega Man 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 bursting with additional content, from time trials and remix challenges. Now if that doesn’t justify charging you RM65 for some decades-old games, nothing will. In addition to that, there is also an additional music player feature as well as a gallery mode to gawk at all the official concept art. This is the perfect time to set you up for the upcoming Mega Man 11, which hopefully doesn’t end up like Mighty No. 9.
