Soulcalibur VI was announced at the Game Awards 2017. After the 6-year silence from Bandai Namco, the sixth installment of Soulcalibur is dated for release in 2018. Just like the previous games, Soulcalibur VI is going to be a 3D fighting game revolving heavily around the use of different weapons.
The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One sometime this year. Soulcalibur came out of hiatus with a sixth game to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the franchise.
Characters Revealed So Far
Recently, Bandai Namco released the new trailer for the game featuring a few familiar faces and some new ones. The characters revealed are:
- Groh (New)
Some of the characters were revealed in exclusive gameplay videos. The new combos are looking more intense but very smooth. One of the best things I loved about the previous games is the smoothness of the transition between movements regardless of which weapon you used. This seems to be the case with this one as well. If anything, it’s even smoother.
Now, they come with what seems to be a super move completed with camera angle changes and everything, not unlike Tekken 7. They are also introducing a new mechanic that makes your character move in slow-mo called “Reversal Edge” and it’s going to be similar to the Combo Breaker in Killer Instinct.
This Soulcalibur installment will be more focused on the plot compared to the other game. And according to the reveal, Soulcalibur VI is going to take place before the very first Soulcalibur game in the 16th century. Therefore, some of the characters will look rather different because they’ll be younger.
This is going to give the game an interesting perspective as well as some insight into your favorite characters.
