Fortnite Battle Royale is on its way to mobile! The Fortnite team recently posted this announcement on their website:
“Hey Fortnite Community,
Fortnite Battle Royale is coming to mobile devices! On phones and tablets, Fortnite is the same 100-player game you know from PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac. Same gameplay, same map, same content, same weekly updates. Starting Monday, you can sign-up for the Invite Event on iOS. Support for Android will be coming in the next few months.”
Since then, it’s blown up on all social media platforms. While a little late to the Battle Royale game, Fortnite has nonetheless risen quickly as one of the more popular Battle Royale games. This may be a response to Tencent’s recent release of the PUBG Mobile game into the Chinese market.
The mobile game isn’t the only thing they’ve announced. Fortnite is partnering up with Sony to bring us cross play and cross progression between all platforms (PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS and Android). This means that you’ll be able to squad up with your friends regardless of the platform!
About time! This is going to be a huge game changer in the game because PUBG has yet to announce any plans for cross-platform co-op and that’s one of the biggest competitors in the BR market. This puts Fortnite ahead in the game in that aspect.
Sign Up For The Invite List
On Monday (12 March), Fornite will open sign ups on their website for those who want to play the game on mobile. All you have to do is sign up and wait for them to send you a code. Once you get the code you will also get invite codes to share with your friends. The Fortnite team has said that they will be gradually adding more and more players to the game.
In order to play the game, you will need at least to update your device to iOS 11 and have an iPhone 6S/SE or newer, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2 or the iPads released from 2017 or later. More details will be revealed on Monday so make sure to check in!
