Electronic Entertainment Expo 2017 – Expectations for E3

With less than five days to go before the first press conference, the E3 hype is definitely upon us. This year’s E3 will once again be held at Los Angeles Convention Center from the 13th of June to the 15th of June. Let’s just jump right into it and see what we can expect this year from the publishers.

X-Box

With the invite heavily hinting on Project Scorpio, no doubt the focus is going to be on Xbox’s new console.  The new console bringing 4k resolutions to Xbox fans and this means more games to look forward since the release of this console will expand the lifespan of Xbox One too considering the new console is going to be compatible Xbox games. Aside from Project Scorpio, Xbox will most likely follow up with:

• State of Decay 2
• Crackdown 3
• Sea of Thieves

PlayStation

PlayStation pretty much won E3 last year for me. Teasing us with Days Gone then immediately dropping PlayStation 4 Pro. Fans will be going in with high expectations considering the fact that PlayStation will most likely focus on software instead of hardware and here are the titles you can look forward to hearing about:

• The Last of Us 2
• Days Gone
• Death Stranding
• God of War
• Detroit: Become Human
• Gran Turismo Sport
• Knack 2
• Spiderman

Nintendo

The focus will most definitely be on Switch and the company has already announced that Super Mario Odyssey will be playable on the show floor. Instead of a press conference, the company is hosting Nintendo Spotlight: E3 2017 video presentation that can be streamed live on June 13, and to top that off, it’s bringing back Nintendo Treehouse: Live at E3 2017 that will include tournaments for Switch games such as ARMS and Splatoon 2. The tournament will be streamed online on June 15.

Electronic Arts

Electronic Arts is once again pulling away from the show and hosting an invite-only showcase off the main venue. The keynote address will be an hour-long on the 10th of June. The door to the showcase venue will be open to members of the public after the main press day. Only those who have an invite and has signed up for it will have access though. Here’s what you can expect EA to be sporting (get it?):

• FIFA 18
• FIFA 19 for Switch
• Madden NFL 18
• NBA Live 18
• Need for Speed Payback
• Star Wars: Battlefront 2

Bethesda Softworks

Their invitation featured a theme park with some indicative sections and two mysteriously under construction area that have fans guessing (and hoping) that it will be the next Elder Scrolls game. Their press conference will be on the 11th of June, announced nice and early. The star of the show will most likely be Quake Champions, announced last year and possibly something about a sequel to Wolfenstein. Other than that, you can expect these from Bethesda:

• Fallout 4 VR
• Doom VR

Ubisoft

It’s no surprise that Assassin’s Creed Origin will be the star amongst what Ubisoft has lined up for us. They have been dropping heavy hints, stirring up rumours about the new Egypt-based Assassin’s Creed and it will finally get a full reveal. Last week, they revealed the date and trailer for Far Cry 5. Hopefully, fans will get to see more footages of these long-running franchise. Their press conference will be on the 12th of June and here’s other titles you can expect:

• Rayman Legends Definitive Edition for Switch
• South Park: The Fractured but Whole
• Steep for Switch

Activision

Activision is going big this year in comparison to their low-key showcase last year, they will most likely be showcasing:

• Call of Duty: WW2
• Destiny 2
• Crash Bandicoot N Sane Triology

If your favourite publisher isn’t in the list, do not fret. Some other major companies will most likely showcase their wares either on the floor or behind closed doors. To name a few, companies like Square Enix, CD Projeckt Red and Konami will most definitely be present too.
