Pre-release, Destiny 2 was one of the most talked-about games in 2017. Post-release, it was all about the Destiny 2 problems. Thankfully, Bungie has acknowledged the lack of sustainability in the Destiny 2 ecosystem and are currently in the process of making changes.
To make this easier for you, we have summarized developer’s update Bungie’s recently published.
First up is Eververse, the microtransaction system that is obviously tilted towards Tess. To fix this, they are shifting some of the purchasable items such as ghosts, ships, and sparrows over to reward pools and achievement locked.
They are also implementing a way for players to earn Ingrams in game. You will see this change starting from the upcoming Crimson Days Event on 13 February. The event will allow players to earn Legendary Emote, Weapon Skin, and Exotic Sparrow for doing Nightfall, Raid, and Crimson Days respectively.
January 30 Update
Not surprisingly, the Masterwork system is being further developed. Because it was well received by the player base; there’s no reason not to expand on it. Now the Masterworks system will include armor. The armor also gives damage reduction during your Super. Similarly to the weapons, you can reroll the stat types for your Masterwork Armor. You can upgrade the armor by spending Masterwork Cores and Legendary Shards.
In addition, some changes will be coming to raid rewards to make them more “unique and interesting.” Also, a Raid item will now drop from each major encounter. The team is looking to create rewards that are more active and Raid exclusive.
The Strike scoring system will be replacing the time limit mechanic in Nightfall. They are incorporating a similar scoring system as in Destiny 1 but with more emphasis on the Strike objectives.
New mods are on the way for both weapons and armors. Some mods will be removed and others will no longer be purchasable via Bright Engram as they want to tread carefully on pay-to-win outcomes.
The next Destiny 2 expansion is in the works! The team will be making improvements based on the feedback they received from Curse of Osiris. There will be more updates regarding the direction if Destiny 2’s storyline in the coming months.
Season 3 will start and this is not part of the expansion. This new content is going to be available to all players:
- Crucible Rank: This will basically be the competitive rank of Destiny 2.
- Private matches. You can now host custom games and choose the map and mode you want to play.
- 6 v 6 Game mode
- Return of Mayhem Event.
- Item Collections and Records
- Weapon Slot and Archetype Improvements
- Additional Crucible Playlists (e.g. Rumble)
- Better Clan Rewards
- Masterwork Exotics
- Pinnacle Weapon and Gear Improvements
- Trials of the Nine improvements
- Shaders and dismantling
- The Future of Guided Games
- Address Solo Vs Fireteam matching
Bungie has got the solutions down in writing; however, whether or not they can deliver, remains to be seen. For now, we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt.
